MEDICAL ENTRY TEST
After Fsc if we want to achieve admission to any professional college of medical and engineering we have to, first of all, pass the entrance test either conducted by the college itself or any autonomous test conducting body.
There are two categories of medical colleges in Pakistan:
Public sector medical colleges( government sector)
Private sector medical colleges
PMDC
Pakistan Medical and the dental council is a regulating body which decides all type of academic policies and also under its supervision all the entrance test are conducted to the universities.
MCAT
MCAT(medical college aptitude test) is required for admission in most of the medical colleges of Pakistan. Simply its the entry test either written or computer base which is conducted all over Pakistan to induct students in its medical colleges. Moving towards the provinces of Pakistan there is different conducting bodies like,
PUNJAB
In Punjab MCAT or MDCAT( Medical and Dental College Aptitude Test) is conducted by the University of Health Sciences( UHS). UHS is an HEC affiliated public university that conducts every year MBBS, BDS and many other Allied Health Sciences admissions to all over medical colleges in Punjab including the public and private sector.
SEATS
There are a total of 19 public sector medical colleges in Punjab and Islamabad having an allocation capacity of 3500 students.
KPK
Moving towards Khyber Pakhtun Khaw the conducting body of entry test in this province under the instructions and permissions of PMDS is ETEA( Education Testing and Evaluation Authority)
so if you are having domicile of KPK you have to appear in ETEA conducted once in a year,
ETEA is a self-autonomous institution established in 1998 by the government of Pakistan to conduct a transparent entry test to engineering and medical universities in the province.
SEATS
There are a total of 17 medical colleges in KPK out of which 10 are public and 7 are private. Total seats of public are 999 and that of private are 850.
SINDH
Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences, a government medical university situated in Sindh Karachi is the main medical college taking decisions regarding all other medical colleges of its province. After its permission, all the decisions regarding entry tests in Sindh medical colleges are made. Mostly the test conducting body is NTS( National Testing Service) which under its supervision conducts the test annually.
SEATS
In Sindh PMDS recognize 9 public sectors and 14 private sector medical colleges are allocated.,seat capacity of 1100 students is there in Sindh medical colleges.
BALOCHISTAN
In Balochistan, there is a fewer number of medical colleges as compared to other provinces and Bolan Medical College(BMC) is the one and prime body of all other medical colleges. So in this province either NTS conducts the test or the college itself makes all the arrangements for the entry test.
SEATS
A total of 5 medical colleges are running in Balochistan 4 of which are public and only 1 is private having a total of 224 seats.
